Drones has been banned in Yosemite National Park!! I knew this would be coming, and I am sure we will see more bannings down the road.. I fly radio control aircraft, and understand the dangers that these vehicle could cause. As they become popular more people will have access to these machines that might not have the skills to keep the vehicles in control.. Most of these machine state that they almost fly by themselves. I guess in a way this can be misleading, and yes they have come along way from a couple years ago. Also being a photographer I have been amazed seeing some of the video and images that people have posted. I have also seen careless videos of people flying these machines as if nothing can happen. I want to see the rc aerial photography hobby to expand, but we just have to use our heads. ALWAYs keep safety on your mind, so the hobby can grow even further. One accident can hurt the whole hobby, and I promise it would bring on a mass banning of a lot of areas. Here is the link to read about the Yosemite banning. Have fun, and PLEASE FLY SAFELY. http://www.nps.gov/yose/parknews/use-of-unmanned-aircraft-systems-drones-prohibited-in-yosemite-national-park.htm

At times I wonder what drives me as a photographer.. It is 100 percent the passion. It is what makes me get up at all hours of the night for the perfect moment that can be caught in an image.. Yes, mother nature does not always work with you, but when she does, I can't explain the feeling. It is the biggest high, and makes all the sacrifices worth while, and a great feeling of accomplishment. I found this video on youtube, and I can relate to everything that is said. I have followed Jay & Varina Patel for some time, and really enjoy there work. The average person does not realize what effort goes into an image. This hits it right on the head!! Good job Jay & Varina.!!! |
